Annwyl Gadeirydd y Pwyllgor Please name the Senedd 'Senedd'. Take courage that this is a strong and unique name. It sounds proud. It does not need an English language name with a description 'Welsh' which sounds like the beginning of a justification of why we need one for Wales, and not the real thing in London. Senedd is easily understood, pronounced and spelt for people across the EU and further afield. There is well established convention for Welsh only names in Wales and to give the Senedd an English language name would be divisive. It would deny people who don't yet speak Welsh from having the opportunity to use a bit of Welsh and to gain confidence in their ownership of the language and the institution. My child is in a class group called Y Senedd at school as they have been learning about public places in Cardiff. Those 6 year olds think the Senedd is great. With the majority of kids' in local Welsh medium schools coming from non Welsh speaking homes, please consider what message are you sending them if you rename y Senedd? In the light of the 2050 1 Million Welsh Speakers strategy, and the Well being of Future Generations Act, ask yourselves- which option best represents 'the Wales that we want'?
